Teaching Interests
As a young undergraduate student I was impressed by the endless possibilities that higher education provided for me to achieve my goals. As an instructor in the classroom, I project this enthusiasm for learning, with the aim to motivate and encourage students to take full advantage of the opportunities that universities offer. Using innovative pedagogical exercises and drawing from experience teaching a wide range of courses, I present the study of political science to students in a way that aims to improve their lives academically, professionally, and personally.
As an educator, I desire that my students develop critical thinking skills for the classroom and for professional advancement. In addition, I feel that students gain from an understanding of how politics affects their personal lives. I also feel that expanding students’ understanding of the experiences of other people lends to their ethical and individual development.
As a faculty member, I have interest in teaching Politics of Development, Gender Politics, various area studies, Social Movements, and Political Economy. I have had extensive training in other major subfields of Political Science, and am qualified to teach Introduction to American Politics and Introduction to International Relations.
